Welcome to my travel blog! I don't who would want to read it but feel free to look around and read about my travels. I have been in Prague and finally got around to making this.
Today was the first day we started intensive Czech and it's pretty hard. I think I have adjusted my sleep schedule and am now trying to learn Czech and become more familiar with Prague. After class today we took a trip to the main building at Charles University that was built in 1348? We were supposed to see ancient Medieval tunnels underneath but instead were treated to an all Czech exhibit about Jan Palach who burned himself alive in 1969 to protest something (probably communism). It was boring.
After the trip I went on an adventure and saw the Astronomical Clock which was pretty lame. At the hour it opens, this skeleton rings a bell, a bunch of saints, angels, or holy things rotate in and out of some windows and then it stops. Big letdown. I don't really know the significance of it so I'll have to look it up and get to you. Then I got lost, saw some sights such as the museum of sexual machines, etc. and wandered around Stare Mesto (Old Town). After that, I found where I was going, watched some high school kids smoke a joint. Because, after all, marijuana is pretty much legal here. People smoke in clubs, bars, on the street; everywhere. Moreover, smoking and drinking have the laxest rules. I've seen what looks like 12 year old kids drinking and smoking in clubs.
So far Prague is very nice and I'm hoping to go to Bratislava next weekend. Many will remember it from Eurotrip fame but I'm hoping that it looks better in person. Bowling and drinking tonight on CIEE, should be a good time.
